GoodmanReed Motorcars805-202-4557Offered for sale is an exceptional, extremely original, 50koriginal mile, effectively one owner Southern California 1988 BMW M6, finishedin desirable and menacing Black (Schwarz #086) over Grey Nappa Halfline leather.The car was ordered new by Mr. Josef Schneider, BMW factory trained mechanicwho opened the first BMW dealership and service center in Orange County, CA in1970. He later decided to focus solely on service, opening and operatingSchneider Motors in Anaheim, CA until his retirement in the late 1990s. Orderedstraight from the factory as favor, the M6 was Schneider??�s personal weekend caruntil his passing last year, and he used it sparingly, always ensuring that itwas meticulously maintained and well cared for. His son inherited the car andwould have loved to have kept it, but with limited garage space he decided itshould go to someone that would show the same reverence to the car as hisfather had for nearly thirty years, and we were fortunate enough to acquire itfrom him earlier this summer on the condition that we find it good home.Cosmetically the car is in excellent condition, the Blackfinish retaining excellent depth and luster, marred only by the most negligibleof imperfections (a few small touched up rock chips on the front valence andhood), none of which are significant enough to appear in the photographs. Thebody is entirely straight with factory consistent panel fits and gaps, showingno evidence of any accidents, which is corroborated by the entirely cleanCARFAX report. All of the factory SIGLA glass and original rubber is in excellentcondition, as is the chrome trim, and the factory cross spoke alloy wheels arein excellent original condition, although the original roundel center caps areshowing slight fading (easily replaced, should that be the next owner??�spreference. The interior too is in excellent original condition, the Greyleather seats never re-dyed or repaired and showing only the minimal weartypical of well cared for, 50k mile example. The interior panels and carpetsare in excellent original condition, as is the headliner and dash, which isfree of any cracks or warping. Always garaged Southern California car, it??�sdevoid of any rust and remains entirely unmodified ??� radio, wheels and all ??�somewhat uncommon for E24 M6s. Most U.S. spec E24 M6s wererelatively well optioned, and there actually weren??�t that many options to beginwith. This car??�s options include: Halfline Nappa leather interior, cross spokealloy wheels, air conditioning, rear air conditioning and storage unit, powerfront seats with driver-side memory, heated front seats, power sunroof, cruisecontrol, rear sun shade and an onboard computer, all of which are fullyfunctional.  As the sparingly used personal car of BMW factory trainedmechanic, this M6 is unsurprisingly in excellent mechanical condition. Upon ourpurchase we had Kurt Kimball of Granny??�s Garage (our local BMW specialty mechanic)comprehensively go through the car to ensure that it would be in effectivelyturn-key, ???needs nothing??? condition. Aside from basic service, Granny??�s flushed and bled the brake system, replaced the master cylinder,replaced the oil seals at the rear of the transmission and replaced the hoodstruts. We??�re happy to report that compression is excellent across allcylinders (1-180, 2-185, 3-180, 4-180, 5-185, 6-185), the car is completely dry and free of leaks, the brakingsystem is excellent, the transmission shifts smoothly and precisely and all ofthe electricals work as they should. The car starts effortlessly, idlesconsistently and pulls with grin-inducing force through each of thetransmission??�s gears. PPI detailing the car??�s condition and with ???nomechanical recommendations??? listed is on file and we??�ll happily forward it uponrequest and Kurt would likely be willing speak with any truly serious buyers. We have deep affinity for many of the European GT cars of theera, but in our humble opinion neither the Porsche 928, Mercedes 560SEC, northe Jaguar XJS hold candle to the sheer enjoyment that the driver feels frombehind the wheel of the M6, which, in addition to their iconic styling, is abig part of why they??�ve quickly become investment grade cars over the past fewyears, surpassing all but their outrageously expensive 928 GTS peers in valueby double, if not more. As anyone who??�s been in theE24 M6 market can attest, finding low mileage, mechanically excellent,original example is no small feat, especially if they??�re not priced offensively.This is an excellent opportunity to acquire what is undoubtedly one of the bestexamples on the market, checking all the important boxes: always meticulouslycared for, mechanically excellent, cosmetically gorgeous, entirely unmodified, desirablelivery, clean CARFAX report, glowing PPI report and an excellent, one SouthernCalifornia owner provenance.
