This 1991 BMW 318is has been used as daily driver for mytwo sons since 2005.  Number OneSon purchased the car, and we believe he was the third or forth owner havingbought it from an enthusiast in Knoxville, TN in December 2004 with just under200k miles on it.  The previousowner reported that he had swapped the original M42 engine for another lowmileage M42 (~60k miles) when the chassis mileage was 180k.  He also told my son that he had???rebuilt??? the engine prior to installation.  We have no documentation to support this, so use thisinformation as you see fit. The previous owner also made some tasteful performancemodifications to the car that included Schrick cams, ECM chip, strut brace,SuperSprint exhaust, and Ground Control suspension kit. In addition, the carsports an M-Tech steering wheel, shift knob and M-Tech rear lip spoiler.The working odometer currently shows just over 233k miles with actual mileageprobably close to 240k due to broken odometer gears during documented periodbetween 2009 and 2011.The body and chassis are in excellent condition with oneminor accident in early 2004 when the previous owner had an encounter with adeer that damaged the left front fender. That fender was replaced and the hood was also repainted at thattime.  All of the remaining bodypanels are original with VIN stickers intact. The only rust on the car is along weld seam below the battery tray in the right rear trunk well.  There are several photos of this area and more detailed description in the available write-up and photos that can provide. The car starts and runs fine with good power and accelerateswithout hesitation.  The original5-speed transmission shifts smoothly with no grinding and provides power to therear wheels through the 4:10 ratio LSD unique to the 318is.The interior is exceptionally nice on this car and is alloriginal.  Sport seats are vinylcovered with no splits, punctures, or notable wear.  Both door panels are in great shape and the dash appearsperfect with no cracks or waviness.
